Blogging, hmmm...how does one do that? I am rolling my eyes right now since I already have two other blogs - a personal one and a book/library related one. Three is the charm though right? Rhetorical. Sitting thinking of what my first post would be, I cannot help but return to a quote that has stuck with me throughout my life. "The Definition of a learning experience is what you get when you don't get what you want." Now, over the years I have had several people claim that this statement was original said by several different people. Everything that I could find leads me to Mark Twain and I can almost hear him speaking those word. Correction, I can hear that actor who played Mark Twain on Star Trek: The Next Generation saying those words. As an example of a learning experience I present the following video:
Here we saw "The Bear" exploring his world and wanting to learn about his environment. While we cannot truly figure out what stimuli has brought this wonderful creature to a back porch, most wild animals only come near humans when they are hungry and smell food. Once alerted, Nishanto corrects The Bear's behavior and quite possibly The Bear has learned that he should not go anywhere near this house. If I were to to guess, I would say that this would be a form of behaviorism in action...or should I say "bearhaviorism"? I really hope my future students appreciate my awful sense of humor!
